Great minds think alike. We suggested sending local Republicans to the website Clowns without Borders (boxfordrtc.org). That proposal was voted down in favor of directing people to YouTube.
A short week later, U.S.-Greenland signing-ceremony organizers at the United Nations had the brilliant idea of playing Send In The Clowns as the U.S. delegation entered. Denmark denies they were in charge of the playlist but, knowing how much the Nordic countries despise Trump, I wouldn’t put it past them.
In that DJ’s honor and solidarity with Denmark, we’ll send http://boxfordrtc.org visitors to the Clowns without Borders URL for the next couple of weeks before restoring it to point to Rick Asley’s rick-roller hit Never Gonna Give You Up.
Republican visitors to http://boxfordrepublicans.org will still be able to learn, perhaps for the first time, that they elected a well-known New York grifter with a number of serious psychological disorders in both 2016 and 2024 (Trump Family Digital Grift Wealth Tracker).

Chris Shepley running for … State Senate?
No, your eyes are not failing you… On photos from Andover Day, last Saturday, it didn’t escape our notice that the Shepley campaign had had t-shirts printed with the words “Chris Shepley for State Senate: Together We Make Positive Change, MA Senate - 18th District,” flanked by lawn signs Catchy!
But who’s going to tell college junior, accounting student Chris Shepley, MAGA candidate for the 18th Essex House district and Connor Murray’s opponent, that he is in fact running for the State House, not the State Senate, and that he lives in State Senate District Second Essex and Middlesex? There is no 18th Essex senate district.
Apart from running a House campaign on platitudes and empty slogans, shouldn’t we at least expect our elected representatives to know what chamber they’re running for?

These sub-par candidates—Chris Shepley, but we might as well lump in Trevor Currier, Micah Q. Jones, and MAGA Mike Minogue—will always have a great future behind them.
Committee meeting last Thursday
Thursday, we had some 20 people, including some completely new people, attending our monthly committee meeting.
We managed to sort out a rough plan for Boxford’s NO KINGS rally on Oct. 17 in West Boxford (you can sign up here) — let us know if you want to help organize (as safety marshalls, booth staff, or something else;
We elected a new outreach officer, Eleanor Grigg Schoenberg, who will take over from Nora Maginn on a provisional basis (thank you Nora and Eleanor for your great work); and
Eunice Zeigler provided details about her current campain for relection to the Governor’s Council.

Kristin at Drinks with Dems
Thursday’s Drinks with Dems at Alfalfa Farm Cellars was our fourth. Again, a very fun, very friendly, and not all politics event with quite a number of new faces. This time we had our first Topsfield Dems attending, a crew from Middleton (Deo, we see you!), North Andover, Georgetown, and again quite a lot of BoxfordDems.
Kristin Kassner, who’s running for re-election for 2nd Essex District representing Ipswich, Hamilton, Rowley, Newbury, Georgetown, and Topsfield dropped by.
If you’re not familiar with her work at the State House, she’s racked up a lot of accomplishments in her very short time in office strengthening our local economy, protecting the Great Marsh and our drinking water, and helping families and seniors manage the rising cost of everyday life. She always shows up, listens, and fights for what is right, just, and fair. (If you can, please support her campaign financially or help her canvass.) If you want to help her campaign, her team will be canvassing every weekend until the election on Nov. 3.
Again, the Sultan of Swag brought some more campaign buttons and some of our new branded bottle openers (thanks Bruce and Adam/Ellen!).

For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law.
Now, we are taking the next step, turning people power into voter power. Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early, is not purely a protest. Instead, on October 17, it's a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing our community together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard.
Because no one person gets to decide our leaders before voters do.
On October 17 from noon to 1:00 p.m., join us in Boxford as we get out the early vote and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings.

We’re always looking for neighbors willing to distribute door hangers in Boxford! We have no public sidewalks; residents don’t expect canvassers; Boxford has 2-acre zoning; houses can be hard to find—in other words, Boxford is notoriously difficult to canvass.
